Yearbook is a full year class which designs produces and sells the annual, Le Lac. Students learn the basics of photoshop, indesign, premiere and a host of other Adobe programs, learn camera techniques, video editing, and any other technology or media idea that might come up.
Class rules and Expectations 1. BE PROMPT
You will be considered tardy if you are not in class when the bell rings. Since this class has a major participation component, each tardy will hurt that grade.
Tardy/Unexcused absence policy
Each week you will start with 25 points in participation (5 points for each day)
An unexcused absence will result in a loss of 10 points
A tardy will result in the loss of 5 points
2. BE PREPARED
Make sure that you always have all necessary materials to successfully participate in class. This includes but is not limited to paper, pencil or pen. Deadlines are very serious when working with Herff Jones, our printer. You miss a deadline, the book might not go out.
3. BE ON TASK
Much of your grade will be time spent on task in the classroom, and time working on individual projects. Come to class prepared to be self motivated. Many of the assignments will be individual work, which means I will give you time to work in class, goofing off, or not doing what I ask will result in a loss of points. You are invited to bring a water bottle to class, but all food or other drink must remain off of the computer tables.
4. BE COURTEOUS AND RESPECTFUL
It’s just easier to live by the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Disrespectful language or comments about your peers are unacceptable. Inappropriate language or innuendoes are also unacceptable.
5. BE SURE TO TURN YOUR WORK IN ON TIME
While your particular assignment might require you to work alone, it all comes together. If your page, highlight video, or copy edit is late, it affects everyone else. Letting a classmate down, not being prepared will result in major deductions from the assignment grade and from your participation grade.
6. BEHAVIOR
Don’t do anything in class that will prevent me from teaching or a student from learning. Repeated disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. You will often be working in separate areas, or leaving the class to take pictures or video. Your behavior is a reflection of me, and I will not allow you to behave poorly . This is doubly true when there is a substitute teacher or guest in the classroom.
7. BE OPEN
Open your mind. Open yourself to being silly, serious, and not always the coolest kid in school. Check your ego and your “school drama” at the door. I will be asking you to go outside of your normal limits of comfort. The yearbook is not about you, the story, the pictures, the captions, are about the others. That's often a tough concept to grasp in the "me now" society. Leave yourself out of it, and capture the moment. Stay behind the camera, not in front of it.

Grading Procedure
- Each assignment will be given a point value. Your grade will be the percentage of the number of points you earned divided by the number of points possible.
- Late work will lose a percentage for each day. After three days if the student has not attempted to make up the missing assignment it will become a zero.
